How do you bet the derby?

My star got hitched to Gemologist and Liaison in February. In Futures Pool #1, I bet them to win, boxed them w/each other and put them under a few in exactas. Gemologist was a useful selection; Liaison…not so much. But it’s done; he’s a fat price, and he should be passing horses at the end—just skeptical he’ll be close enough for it to matter.

I’m going to roll with what I’ve got. The only addition will be a moon-shot trifecta ticket that puts those two in the show hole only. For the win & place positions, I’ll toss the ten horses with BC experience, and box the remaining: 8x8x2.

I usually do a W/P wager with 40% of the bet to Win and 60% to Place, but for the 138th running I'm tempted to place it ALL on the Bodemeisters nose.
