California screwing solar users

Nevada did similar.

People installed solar with the promise that they'd be able to sell their excess capacity back to NV Energy. For several years they could but then the company simply changed the policy.

Of course, truth be told, it was all pretty much a scam anyway.

Even worse was wind energy. LOL

We actually know someone who was promised (but not in the fine print) that they'd generate like 75% of their power because they were in "such a wonderful wind location."

They paid a massive amount of money - like many thousands - and the thing didn't generate $5 per month.

The story JR posted is a great example of how so many liberals simply cannot think beyond the tip of their noses. They preach to us that we need to save the planet, save the planet, save planet and that we can do that if we "go green", i.e. solar for example. So, the Feds get onboard and offer lucrative tax credits, which is currently 26% of the cost of the system, in order to entice people to go solar. But look what happens when too many people do? The utility companies squawk loudly to state officials and tell them they don't have enough revenue coming in to maintain their systems.

This is what happened with the city of Lake Worth here in Florida -- another liberal mecca. This city is so protective of their own utility company, they managed somehow to outlaw solar panels within the city limits so their utility company can thrive! (So much for saving the planet!) At the end of the day, with these hypocrites, money is worth a lot more than the planet.

And if you think solar is a scam, just wait until they push electric cars on us. You ain't seen nothin' yet.

Florida, the sunshine state, is one of the worst states if you want to save money by installing solar panels. I've read many blogs of people whose electric bill didn't change, after installing solar panels.

The Florida utilities have hindered potential rivals seeking to offer residential solar power. They have spent tens of millions of dollars on lobbying, ad campaigns and political contributions. And when homeowners purchase solar equipment, the utilities have delayed connecting the systems for months.

The power companies should be the ones who generate electricity via solar. Indivifuals shouldn't have to do it. Here, it's less that 1%, which is 19th in the ranking of states. California is tops with over 24%

It's not practical for power companies to go solar because the panels would require a solar farm, which in turn would require a huge amount of land.

Solar companies will sell you a system for 25 years interest free. What they don't tell you is it breaks down in 10 leaving your house with ugly panels and you end up paying to replace or leave on the house and hook back up to the grid still paying on the panels.

And now they'll tax you for the use of the sun!!!!

The smartest people I know simply laugh at those sales pitches making ridiculous promises like "selling excess power back to the power companies."

That only works as long as the power companies GAIN from the situation.

Back about a decade or so, a really smart person I know spoke on the topic. He said that the question to ask was "What happens if the program is VERY SUCCESSFUL?"

And this is exactly what's happening now: it no longer works to the benefit of the power companies, so the consumer gets the shaft.

Why? Because the consumer has no LOBBYING POWER.

The power company lobby is huge because they are funded by the consumer's dollars!
