This should be real good....(Horseplayers Reality TV Show)

http://tv.esquire.com/shows/horsepla...tncrew-wrapper

Gentlemen, please. Tell me I didn't hear the words, "actually I'm going to win every race" come out of this guy's mouth.

Pipe dream, Lord have mercy!!

I have Dish Network, I'm dying to find out if I have this channel somewhere among all of them. Esquire channel? New to me. This will be really fun. On the serious side, maybe it'll bring in some "new money". That disposable income thing.

Of course there is a way he can win every race by betting on every horse
to win in each race. Usually this is a loosing proposition, however, for a
Million Bucks, I'm not so sure. It stands to reason he will not be betting on
just one horse per race to win. It sounds like this channel will get lots of
people out to the track real fast. I wish it were free over the air channel
but probably won't. I will not pay to watch TV.

I have Dish with a fairly basic package. I have the Esquire Channel. It's Ch. 115 on my system.

Just FYI, it's moving to ch. 191 in the near future.

Clocker and Nick, I just turned to the Esq. channel.

If the show that is on now is any measure of their programming line up--the new "Horseplayers" is in serious trouble without even the first episode aired.

OMG!! Where do they get these people? ... L.A.Realtors

I just found it in the nether regions on FIOS. 160

It's a non HD channel which is the reason I didn't even know I have it.

This should be fun for about ten minutes

Showing people losing their ass as they did in the preview, that'll bring em out!

Another unrealistic hyped look at the game

I know. Didn't you like that other line... "in terms of the money. Its gone."

Poor us, it just never gets any better.

And JeffP is right, dumb wagering it down ain't gonna make it better either.

This has got to be good for horse racing. The channel is not the best, but poker craze started because a program on the Travel Channel. Egomaniac viewers will ignore the losers and think with a little study "I can do better than the winners". This kind of thing that horse racing has needed to promote the game for sometime. Hopefully some ADWs will be among the sponsors.

I agree with you. Horseplayers need to be presented to the public as competitive and half-way interesting as opposed to miserable at home in front of a computer and bitching about everything.

Sure, it would be bad if all of the cast ends up losing, but as long as one or two of them do good then that would be a positive for attracting some competitive, new blood. I am sure the executive producers know all of this. I watched the trailer and it looked pretty good. I think I will pull for Beychok and Conte, the guy with the giant magnifying glass. One of the young guns should come in 3rd for the younger viewers.

After reading H4C's blog link... this reads more interesting. I'm not a fan of any reality show, not even "Survivor". But this, I need to do. Need to try and hang with the 10 episodes.

Bravado is often prayer in disguise. Reality, on the other hand, is ever so humbling.

I think the producers did a good job with the cast, but if they get another season they need more than 6 cast members and definitely more "variety".

"Survivor" has lasted for a long, long time. Think of how many people have been inspired to go in their backyard and eat earthworms and try to build a fire after watching that show. If the producers edit some decent stories, remembering that everyone cannot win (that would be an infomercial) and everyone cannot lose (that would be an after-school special), there is a chance with good casting into the future that this type of show could be an excellent marketing tool. I like this.

Ch 191....
He IS going to win every race.....
It's easy to do that when one bets every live horse under 50-1.
Ya know what...I'd rather hit 3 of 6 and walk out with a profit for the day than hit 10 of 10 and leave with that empty feeling one gets when the day was real chalky and just invested a ton of money for very little return.
I've never done a handicapping contest, so I have no idea how they work.
I assume contests are very different from a regular day when the goal is positive return on investment.
