I've always wondered.....
How much money do those people standing by the freeway on/off ramps holding cardboard signs make ?
And how about those folks who collect cans/bottles and stuff ?.........you know, the ones with like five giant bags heading to the recycle joint.

My neighbor makes money by picking up discarded appliances and fixing, then selling them on social media.
He has all the local schedules for bulk trash pickup days in our area.
Many of the appliances that he picks up in the ritzy subdivisions are in perfect working condition.
This is his only job.

Interesting. Funny they used hairspray. I wonder how they figured that out?

We have several bags of bottles and cans that can't be returned because the supermarket closed the recycling machines due to the pandemic.

Funny, we still have to pay the deposit when we buy new bottles. Another ripoff for the consumer.

That's pretty clever. I know a guy who picks up tree stumps that have been cut down. He then cuts them up and sells them as fire wood. Hard work, but low investment.

What's bad about not paying taxes?

Nothing when you do it legally. In fact, you should not pay a cent more than you owe. The problem with not paying taxes that are legally due is that everyone else who pays taxes suffers because those who don't pay get the benefits of living in a country that they have not helped to pay for.

I know, you’re thinking that’s just California BS but looky here:

If I were to get back in the biz it would be as a virtual restaurant/s delivery only. I’d either build out or lease a kitchen. Run it 24/7 with multiple menus.

I am amazed at how the all fall into the area of "hustle," and most were illegal.

This is a perfect time to start a digital business.

The internet marketing world has gone "course crazy." Everybody wants to build and sell courses, teaching everything from quilting to building websites.

My favorite idea is to teach the teachers how to build courses.

Just like selling shovels in the gold rush days.

Shocked that more people hear haven't considered writing an eBook on handicapping and selling it on Amazon.

Good ideas! That's why I started this thread. It's hard to think of everything!

Also, car detailing. Hardly any startup costs. You can do it in your driveway. Towels, wax, polish, toothbrush, toothpicks, water, bucket, sponge, soap, leather conditioner, etc.

Landscaping is good, too, as someone mentioned. Lawnmower, rake, leaf blower, and maybe a pickup truck.

I've started a basketball academy with a coaching colleague. This winter will be our first season. It's for high school kids who want to play at higher level than their public schools can offer, but the players will still attend their public schools, rather than having to transfer to an expensive private school. I think this model will grow in popularity and become the model for high school sports because so many schools need to cut their budgets. This is how the Europeans do it. European kids don't play for school teams. They play for private academy teams.

I have also started an online classified ad business. Not sure if I am allowed to mention it since I am not an advertiser here, but I'll give you a clue -- the company is called Johnified. It might be a dot com business. This business has a much longer runway. The basketball academy has to generate revenue by October 1. The dot com will grow much more slowly.

My neighbor makes meals strictly for the weekends. She makes easy family style meals such as chicken or eggplant parm, lasagna and the like. Not exactly a cash business because she set up a pay pal account and they order the meals through FB.
