next speaker
in my opinion, Liz Cheney got a much better shot at the next speaker than McCarthy.
the only question will be is if she accepts it

No democrat or republican would nominate her.

from the Guardian today.
What the anti-McCarthy faction is doing is a miniature version of what the Republican party as a whole has increasingly adopted as a strategy at least since the 1990s: even if your stances are unpopular and you fail to win majorities, you somehow still want to govern. Except that this strategy is now consuming the party’s own leadership; the revolution is devouring both its radical children and the parents, like McCarthy, who benevolently looked on as the kids learned how to rampage during the Trump years.

Nobody cares how wrongly you and others frame the situation.
This is how democracy SHOULD BE...not the oligarchy system Democrats represent en masse.

46zilzal wants to elect a speaker like they did Pelosi...someone who will serve the interests of lobbyists in turn for her and her husband making a FORTUNE off of insider trading...
That's what 46 wants...

quote from above: even if your stances are unpopular and you fail to win majorities, you somehow still want to govern AND prime example of the foolishness going on there currently.
.QUOTE: Several House members reportedly walked out of the chamber during Matt Gaetz’s speech nominating Jim Jordan.
Also notable was that his address failed to gain the applause of a single congress member.

This only means he MUST be doing something right.
Congress, as an institution, has a VERY LOW APPROVAL RATING among the people of the USA
If Congress likes something, then the OPPOSITE must be the RIGHT THING.

as the definition is well know: One of the signs of STUPIDITY is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result

Exactly! Electing the Speaker of the House is much different this time. There is negotiating going on, compromises being made. In the end, McCarthy will get elected but not all on his terms.

Einstein's actual quote was about "insanity" not "stupidity". As usual, bend things the way you want. You qualify for both definitions anyway.
