Luis Saez where is he?

Anyone know why he isn't riding these day?

Covid 19 I thought he had it earlier this year, during Keeneland in the summer?

I don't know how to post race track videos, but here's my observation anyway.

Gulfstream Park R5 was run on the turf.

The #1 Star Weaver riden by (Luis Saez) was leading in the stretch and looked like he was going to hold on for the win.

About 40 yards from the finish line he stepped into a tire groove that caused
him to slow down and he lost by a nose to #8 Nicholas Rose.

A condition like an uneven racing surface is a danger to horses and jockeys.

I know that the show must go on and that racing is conducted in all sorts of conditions.
But I can't understand racing with a known major defect on the track surface.

Different interpretation - I just saw a horse on his wrong lead almost the entire stretch have a very late & slightly awkward lead change. Saez dropping the whip halfway down the stretch certainly didn't help either, tough beat in several ways if you backed this one.

And if the original poster didn't already figure it out from this discussion, Luis Saez is down at Gulfstream for the meet now.
