This contest's official payout structure comes from drf.com.
In past years, there has been issues with drf.com posting the correct numbers in the payoff ticket... so far, this year, there has been no such issues.
I write down the NYRA payout numbers then wait until drf has the results posted ... so what I post is the Official payout for the contest unless otherwise stated differently.
If drf and NYRA allow it... we have to allow the same.

Thank you for the explanation. I guess I should pay more attention to the rules.

No, you don't, Earl. fact is that in past years the same controversies with scratches has come up and they have not counted...for whatever reason sometimes it counts and sometimes it doesn't...just depends on what DRF posts as the winning P4...which to me makes absolutely NO SENSE. Anyway, if anybody thinks this is not the case have a look through last year's contest thread and you will see similar issues being decided differently because DRF did not include the scratched horses in the winning combination (and if I recall correctly NYRA and equibase both had included them).

Hard to believe that people spend time checking other people's plays
unless, of course, they are kind enough to be donating their time to scoring.
Personally, on most Saturdays, I am using much of my time
attempting to figure out the value situation for real money plays,
that I don't have time to worry about much else.
Not the case for everyone, it seems.
Free contests are great fun, and I love playing in them.
When they become the focal point of your horse playing,
though, I think you're in need of a reality check.
In closing, I'd like to add that I've never come across a
kinder, more gentlemanly, horse contest player than Joly B .
I came up against him in the quarterfinals of the matchplay,
and the guy has a great attitude. He is, also, a fine handicapper
who kicked my ass big time. I couldn't have lost to a nicer guy,
and he went on to win it all, which didn't surprise me.
As far as this contest goes, I'm not sure whether he broke
the rules, or not. If he did, I would wager "all in"
that he didn't do it intentionally.
Good luck, horse players!
