Has anyone tried to use "first half energy consumption" as a filter for their selections?

No, unfortunately not. I was hopping it would be. I use another program that gives %early. You do have to keep a model but I have found it an excellent tool for filtering selections...
For one of the tracks I play it looks like this.
avg 52.6
low 52.1 high 53.5
The point between low and high is called the zone. anything not in the zone is a pass. 78% on my winners come from within the zone. You can also keep a model for place, however I do not. So far I have tried it with some of Greg's picks on Paceview, while not a large enough sample yet it seems to be near the same % points for winners and filtering out the losers....which is half the battle.

I am using an old Sartin program from late 80's early 90's, but if u go to Greg's Web site under "free" There is a program by Colt Cannon "Race Profit" it has an early energy calculation for each horse included. The program itself is also pretty good.
Good hunting, Bob

I had race prophet uploaded and deleted it a few months ago so went back and uploaded it again. Bob, if I have this right, if a horse is not between those numbers you don't play it or is that only for front runners. Thanks

Tonight at Turfway Park, race 3, Best 5 Consensus had 'em Deltina, Hansen's Girl and Sheltowee's Point.
Well Sheltowee made his point alright.
Sheltowee's Point $47.80 $19.20 $12.00
Hansen's Girl $4.20 $3.60
$2.00 EXACTA (10-6) $199.00
I did not bet this one because I had no data on Turfway Park and I was just testing, but this track may be worth a look!

Going by Bob's zone and high odds in the Best 5 consenus I have one race to play at Aq. That is the 4th race and the #8 horse, 8-1 ml, and the #7 also qualifies in that race at 5/2 ml. Will see what they do. The only other horse that qualified on the day was the #7 in race 5. Hope this works.

I keep a model for each track I play, as %E will vary by the particular track. Also must keep model for sprints and routes. The zone is found by this formula,
if avg. is 52.0 add .9 for the high and subtract .5 for low. Not in zone I will not play
Avg 52.0
High 52.9
Low 51.5

The 8 was scratched anyways, so we will never know what it would have done.

When I build my model, I do not use...off track, turf, maiden, 2 yr old's, a model of at least 15 races will start to give you a pretty good feel at what the numbers are going to be. I update it every morning. Once you get used to it does not take long.
