Thanks for your service, I wish our government took better care of those of you who need assistance. I had an elderly AF Korean war veteran friend who I had to be a major A-hole, at the local VA hospital to get him proper care, to the point a couple times they threatened to call the police on me.
I just hope that was a bad VA hospital and they all improved. I had enough trouble getting this crusty old man to go see a doctor.

I know there was a time when VA care was less than satisfactory. Since 2008 i have nothing but good things to say about VA healthcare. Anything and everything I need, and in a timely manner. If they cant take care of someting they outsource me somewhere.

Eye glasses, hernia surgery, cardiologists, BPH surgey, colonoscopies, MRI, XRAY, among others things I have had the VA address. First class health care.

If I had to guess the incidents were between 2000-2006 from where I lived. It was at the Loma Linda, Ca facility. The one I remember most was a cut Pops got on his palm of his hand cleaning fish. It was deep and long enough it should have had a couple stitches, by the time I had to threaten him with harm if he did not let me take him to the doctor it was swollen and leaking puss. Waiting for him seemed way too long for the light crowd and when he came out all that had been done is it cleaned by a nurse, no antibiotics to prevent blood poisoning, and no effort to try to close it. I raised a major stink and they threatened to call the cops on me, I told them to go ahead. They finally took him back in and they had him see a doctor where he received proper care. So strange that place was across the street from the acclaimed Loma Linda University Medical Center and it was like 3rd world country crap.
