Sad story, his mounts earned over $200 million, yet he was supposedly living in a trailer until he recently got a check for breeding shares and moved into a hotel. Wonder what happened to all the money?

Addiction and isolation= Horrible outcome.

Wow. Terrible news.

At his best, among the very, very best ever to sit on a horse.

When it all trickles down, how much was it really? I never can figure these things out.......

I thought he rode very much like Eddie D. But better.......

Two divorces, kids, drugs, not working, and apparently gambling.

Sad day.

One of my favorite jockeys that went through the rigors in my sticks of the woods in riding at Ak-Sar-Ben and Fonner Park.

Eventually went on to win aboard some of my favorite horses in Artie Schiller, Midnight Lute, Hard Spun, and Blame among many others.

Much love and condolences to his family and friends.

Shocking news. Was among the best of his era. He grew up right here at The Downs at Santa Fe, where his dad, Louie, was a jockey. He used to run circles around the Turf Club and out on the front apron of the track when he was a kid. Met him later at The Downs at Albuquerque when he had his first bout with his inner demons. Sad, sad day. RIP my friend.

How unfortunate. Very sad.

First thing I did when I got home was fire up a replay of the Vinery Madison Stakes (KEE04092009 R8),. Some of his rides on Ventura and Gio Ponti are legendary.

You fired up a replay of a race he lost?
