$3500 added to purse if 8 starters at PrM
Just read on Paulick Report that Prairie Meadows will add $3500 tp pools if there are more than 8 starters in a race for the first 15 days.
Some here have suggested tracks do this.
Could be interesting.

Maybe they could add a few bucks to the timing company contract and stop publishing insane times.

Do $100.00 a race for 5 years, and every track in the nation can have a timing system that starts when the gates open and times every horse in the race for every fraction.

My mistake here guys, read it is Portland, not Prairie. Prairie is actually really good if memory serves. My brain is fried from the last month, sorry.

prairie meadows entries
a couple thoughts; this is not good...
1) they expect a shortage of horses on the grounds to fill races early on, but they expect an influx of more horses after a certain other track ends their meet.
2) the goal, I think, is to create bigger, more competitive fields, but what will happen is that the trainers with bigger barns will enter another horse in a race to get it up to 8 when the racing secretary calls begging for entries. That extra horse will be a throwout in most cases, and will simply be another inanimate object in the race.

Potential to backfire. In several ways.
