Single - all the data is in one file. Multiple - file is broken up into multiple files with a maximum of (I believe) 255 fields in each file to accommodate a limitation in import software.

Is there a program to combine the multi files into a single file?
That would be handy.

the (mostly accurate) file descriptions are on the Bris site.

Look 2/3 of the way down the page at "Datafile Structures"

MultiCap files are designed to be used with the MultiCaps handicapping program offered through Brisnet, for free.

The multifile format is, as already mentioned, a data file broken down into several files, by category. The single file format is a single file containing all the data available in the multifile format. The MultiCap file is a single file format file like the DRF single file format file but contains some data that the DRF file doesn't, like Prime Power, Race Rating and Class Rating. Both of the single file formats are in the same format and can be used interchangeably in an Excel spreadsheet, you just won't have PP, RR, or CR figures with the DRF file.

I was not aware that there was an import limit, I thought it had something to do with the record size limitation (number of fields per record) that exists with some db like access.

Curious, how often does bris change the file structures and do they let you know that they have done so?

Bill, where are you off too this week??

Yea, that's what I meant. I haven't been using Bris for a few years so I don't remember the particulars.

In my experience they are good at not screwing up the structure and simply fill in the reserved slots. They are not necessarily so good at telling you what has been added. When I stopped using them 3 years ago there were undocumented fields in the multicaps/procaps files (when I use the term "Bris" is am talking about Bris/TSN)

Unfortunately just sitting on my thumbs. Hope to see you in LV!
