PETA

yeah PETA, so they hit the safest racetrack in America

more horses have had long careers at Presque Isle than just about anywhere

what role does PETA see for the horse in the modern world? do they even really care? (rhetorical question)

Nothing would surprise me with activist azzholes. According to their website, PETA advocates for turf racing only. They encourage staying away from existing tracks and preventing new one's from being built.

So the only thing I found on this indicates that the threat is to the jockeys at that racetrack. That doesn't sound like PETA to me, no idea where that would be coming from. You can see it maybe with an individual jockey but jockeys as a whole is puzzling.
