Los Al cancels Thursday card
Seriously, nobody cares about Los Al's thoroughbred meeting, which contributes next to nothing to California racing. The closure of Hollywood Park caused the industry to panic, but the fundamental problem is we don't have enough horses to support year round racing in Southern California. Just get rid of the Los Al meeting; trainers can ship up north if they need a race during the breaks.

NYRA was able to take off a full week and a few days after Saratoga and it was good for all involved. No reason SoCal can't do the same thing.

Stabling is the reason Allred deserves and gets thoroughbred dates. Without Allred making his track available, Southern California racing would be on a more hasty decline than it already is.

We aren't talking about a week here....taking off the Los Al meets would mean 8 weeks of no racing in socal.....the meet lengths for 2021 are 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 2 weeks.

As a bettor , I have had good success with Los Al's MSW.....
The average purse is around 50 grand , making it an attractive spot
I firmly believe if you have a good FTS , your not going to a low level track to debut...

Anyone that sees the fields SoCal is trotting out there knows 8 weeks off during the year isn't going to hurt them at all.

The less tracks we have to bet the more the whales will crush us....

Santa Anita is a real racetrack with reasonable turns and a turf course.

Typical of the haves vs. the Have Nots with some. Take dates from the little guy just to give it to the Big guy.
I kind of like letting the game go back to the riverbed and Ranch race track. Take dates from Santa Anita

I am fine with reducing SA's dates, which is happening anyway. But they should just stay vacant, not go to the Junior Varsity bullring on Katella.
