Despite spending far more than other wealthy countries on healthcare, the United States has relatively higher mortality rates and lower life expectancy – attributed to a plethora of factors including obesity, opioid overdoses, gun violence, suicides, smoking, road accidents and infant deaths.
Given the US does not have a universal healthcare system like most high-income European countries, researchers also think access to healthcare and medicines is patchwork, a problem exacerbated by pronounced racial and socioeconomic disparities and the rural-urban divide.
In the latest analysis, the authors worked on the basis of a counterfactual assumption – what if the US had the death rates by age and sex of an average peer European country (in this case, the combined mortality rates of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, England and Wales)? – and estimated how many fewer deaths there would have been in the US in 2000, 2010 and 2017 under that assumption.

Don't need the virus to do in the unhealthy lifestyles. They found the worst results in people over 75 and I believe OVER MEDICATION has a lot to do with than when every commercial brake on the tube has some new ridiculous medication promoted

In our clinic, once a week, a clinical pharmacologist from SF General would come over to evaluate patients drug profiles.
In almost EVERY instance, he either LOWERED doses or completely removed duplications from these drug regimens.
Years of experience and the rise of "ask you doctor" BS on the TV has certainly NOT changed that scenario
The U.S. is only one of two countries in the world where direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs is legal. ... The United States and New Zealand are the only two countries in the world where direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription drugs is legal.
Yes antivaxxers are the misinformed ones

it seems you just admitted it is the doctor subscribers that are misinformed, or is that what you were trying to say?

Never understood the logic behind it as it’s still up to the physician to prescribe.

for the record, i got vaccinated. but i am old and have no business walking this side of the grass, but i am still here and my risk reward basis works for me on the vaccine...those basis don't work for younger people for the most part in my opinion.

patient "shoppers" ( we used to call them) go to multiple doctors and never let the others know that they are receiving all those meds.

So, a Black neighborhood riots, burns down the grocery store, and they do not rebuild. So now the neighborhood has troubles getting fresh food, but it is a racist problem????
That is why no problems ever get solved.

That's the situation in Rochester. A few weeks ago when the only Wegmans in city limits (barely) was under siege by BLM, they were shouting about how racist Wegmans is because they closed all their stores in the city. Never mind that it was the high crime rate at those stores that forced the closings.
