it's not a fictional run-up, it's an inaccurate one.

the main issue isn't even with the run-up, it's with the rail being set so far out. for whatever reason it distorts the timing of the races everywhere; it's just a little more noticeable at a track like gulfstream.

I was trying to be nice. It is often double what they report, so maybe fictional is the better word.

People often blame the rails being moved for timing problems. It isn't always the rails, sometimes it is the distance that isn't reported properly. To assess a race using time, you also need to know the distance. That doesn't always happen.

Woodbine had inaccurate fractions for at least three turf races today.

Also, Monmouth had no 1/4 mile fractions posted for Race 1 (turf) or Race 10 (dirt).

All the turf races on Saturday are drastically different when you compare the Equibase charts to Trakus. I assume Trakus went back and updated, or corrected, or guessed at new times, but that they haven't made it to Equibase yet.

Seriously, timing races in this sport is a dumpster fire right now.

Saratoga 8/2 Race 3

Trakus timing has them even faster, but common sense makes it hard to believe the very mediocre group in Saratoga's 3rd today just missed a track record. Not to mention the winner had a fairly wide trip, and according to trakus came home his final 7f in 1:19 & change around 2 turns & losing ground, something seems amiss. Quick first glance at the video makes me think 1:47 is a more accurate estimate, something to keep an eye on.

The times of races 5 and 8 at Arlington Park yesterday (8-5) are complete bullshit.

Trust no track.
Timing races is obviously far about the level of competence of the this entire joke of an industry.

Last race at Belmont North today - Andy commented that the times were not believable, check trakus.
