new ridiculousness from Twin Spires

......................

maybe it's not so new - I just noticed it a few days ago

next to the odds they display a number under the abbreviation PL

I had never before heard of PL

here is the Twin Spires explanation:

"Profit Line odds are provided for all North American thoroughbred races (not available for harness and foreign races). There are countless ways to use Profit Line to help you make winning bets. The horse with the lowest Profit Line odds is deemed to be the most likely winner according to Profit Line."

so, basically they claim they are giving the true odds on the entries
and I seriously doubt they have adjusted them after scratches not that it matters

so, I scoped it out and it looked totally out of whack to me - absolutely useless

it looks like they are trying to show cappers how helpful they are but in reality this thing is anything but helpful

I take it as Profit Line is merely their marketing name for their own propitiatory odds line, just like they do with Prime Power. It's nothing but another product they offer.
Creating your own odds line is commonplace for cappers across the pond. After all, they don't have fractions to wade through, and often not even speed figs.
