Access to Equibase.com

I've never had a problem accessing Equibase but for the past 2 days I've gotten a bold message "Access To Website Blocked". I've tried with Chrome, Firefox and Edge on my Windows 10 laptop - all 3 produce the same message.
I tried both Chrome and the Equibase app on my Android phone and got right in with no problem.

I've not had a problem with any other sites (perhaps a couple of dozen or so) over the past couple of days. PA, adw’s, HDW, etc. as well as non-handicapping-related sites have opened normally.

I have virus protection and have scanned for viruses and have also scanned with Malwarebytes and HitmanPro with no problems detected.

I turned off my laptop VPN and was finally able to access the Equibase site on the laptop so the VPN appears to be the problem at first blush BUT the same VPN server on my Android phone was able to access Equibase with no problem via Chrome and by the Equibase app.

Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on?

No problems here...

Either someone blocked the site on your end using some sort of firewall or Equibase is blocking you for some reason. Did you ever use a bot to scrape info off their site?

The logical question is, "Blocked by WHAT?"

Is it blocked because you are at work and they've blocked all gambling sites? (Or you are at home and your wife is very high-tech? LOL)

Is it being blocked by your anti-virus because it is flagged as dangerous?

Is it blocked because you have signed up for some kind of "web trust" software that has decided (for you) what you should be allowed to see?

Are you being blocked by EqB because they believe you are violating their terms of service?

So, who/what is blocking?

The VPN IP addresses are very likely to be different on the phone and laptop. The one given to you on your laptop is likely blacklisted, and the one on your phone is not. Any good VPN lets you change locations or even servers in the same location. You could try that option on the laptop.

OH...I ACTUALLY MISSED THAT PART.

YES, it's the VPN that is causing you to be blocked. It's likely Equibase has targeted as many VPN providers as they can...since people like to hide behind VPN's in order to scrape info off their site.

Although, I would have to imagine, VPN or no VPN, it would be tough nowadays to scrape info off their website...

Thanks for the insights, guys.

I'm not very sophisticated so I don't scrape and, even if I had the knowledge, I would respect their terms of service. The truth is, I don't use their site much but it's a nice resource when I need to review a chart or two.

I'll play around with different VPN servers and see if that helps.

Thanks, again, to all of you.

Tried a different server and the problem was solved. I'll assume there was a bad actor scraping or otherwise up to no good who utilized the server I was originally using.

Thank, again, guys.

Yes, that could also have been the case...

Sometimes the IP address is banned temporarily due to excess traffic (like bot bombardment). Or sometimes the ban is permanent. I kept getting blocked 80% of the time going to askwoody.com. It's down to about 10% or less with my new VPN service. It pays to find a service with a lot of servers/IP addresses.

Will tell you how the internet sees your device. It will not be same as the IP address configured for your device.

If this type of issue is consistent you can email feedback@equibase.com and someone can look into the issue.

I cannot access the Equibase site when Express VPN is running in the background. I simply just shut if off when I want to access the Equibase website.
