Let's hope all this works and is up and running soon for us rural people with no good choices for internet. If I could get a steady 4mbps I would be happy.
And no I did not forget to add a zero or two. I said FOUR. It is often is just less than 1 mbps as slow as 1995 DSL. That is off a cell tower and still much better than current satellite. 1995 DSL in 1995 is way better than what I have due to modern websites being data hogs compared to 25 years ago.

Viasat and Hughes Net. Both require no refund contracts with no guarantee of service. You are out a minimum of $500 or so if it never works. Each satellite has beams that cover a certain area. Problem is they could care less if they over sell a beam so everyone's service goes to crap, they are under a no guarantee contract. There is only so much bandwidth, it is like slicing up a pizza. When I had Viasat it would go out up to a dozen times a day, even in good weather.
I have cell now, it can slow to dial up speed but never drops, and no contract or up front fees. I am close to I-95 the main North-South highway on the East coast, the bastards driving that use my tower, so when
traffic is bad there so is my internet.

Latency is the killer, the Hughes and Viasat satellites are a long way up.
My neighbor 1/4 mile down the road had Hughes, I had Viasat. When it became available I got Verizon and he got At&T. I now have Visible which basically is no frills Verizon. No phone support or stores, but I get phone and internet for $40 a month. You have to turn your smart phone into a hot spot.
Customer service is chat only and their website sucks, sometimes it doesn't work well even trying to pay your bill. If you aren't tech helpless you can't beat internet & phone for $40 for simple needs.
I am not in a good location, just a quarter mile away my speeds would double. My neighbor is even worse than me he is 1/4 mile past me going the wrong way.
Those people that say, "What did people do before cable?" irritate the hell out of me. Those are the type that don't NEED the internet. First websites use a
hell of a lot more data than they used to. They also have more security.
I had to give up doing small contract government work because my internet did not jib with DOD websites. I was making small replacement parts mostly for arms. The problem is now everyone assumes you have high speed reliable
internet. Downloading repair manuals used to be a real blast with satellite.

Is there anything dumber than an administration run by a Biden employee or one that takes direction from one? So their idea now is to force companies to hire workers from 3rd world countries, many with sub zero skills to work in technical jobs? The bottom level workers in those countries are 5x worse than a bottom level USA born worker.

I am waiting for a Democrat who has never supervised someone in a technical job in their lives or seen 3rd world country manufacturer goods in bulk packs before they were inspected, call me a xenophobic racist.
Remember, I am talking about the lowest killed level worker that take entry level jobs, people born here vs the same from a 3rd world country.
A person who comes here at 21, from a family of goat herders from Zamunda
most likely has not used a computer, driven a car, or lived in a home with various modern utilities and conveniences. He or she probably does not have much formal education.
Shiftless kid whose family has been here over 200 years who mother thinks at 21 it is time for him to get his first job, he most likely grew up with computers and the internet, drove a car, used modern conveniences. He is way ahead of the kid from Zamunda and they both would qualify to be paid state minimum.
The kid from Zamunda will be way more of a handicap.
