Race Lens (formerly STATS Race Lens)

There have been a few posts about Race Lens in the BetMix thread, spurred on by one of Partsnut's responses. Thought I might start a separate thread for the benefit of others accessing this section.

Tom mentioned being interested in knowing more about True Odds. "George"/Mike said he'd like to see it with some long-priced winners.

I don't have a ton of expertise to offer in that regard. I will say that there have been 4-5 times over the past couple of years when I was in the mood for a "lazy" simulcast day at Oaklawn. I fired up RaceLens and just went from track to track and played the highlighted overlays in the Adjusted True Odds column. Definitely hit some prices. Had one very good day, one decent day and none of the others were ugly in that small sample. And that's without adjusting any factors (as Partsnut mentioned). So potential is there.

As has been noted, ubercapper/Ellis is very helpful and responsive if you have questions/issues. I'm glad to contribute whatever I can based on my experiences.

They'll run some good promotions from time to time if you want to try it out.

I will answer questions here or via PM, but don't want to violate any of PAs rules, so the best thing is to talk amongst yourselves. The support address racelensfeedback@equibase.com is monitored by myself and others and you don't need to be a customer to use it. Craig Walker on our team is much more adept at tweaking the True Odds module so questions about that are better sent via email.

Just Opinion

I believe that Stat Lens probably borrowed like everyone else from Mike Pizzollas Black Magic/Valuecapper software when they redesigned after Ron Arsennault won the NTRA Handicapping championship back in 2013 or something using it.

Your guesses are patently untrue.

TrackMaster first developed TrackMaster Plus software in the late 80s and redeveloped it in the 90s, well before any other software was commercially available. I know because I was there.

Race Lens (not related to Stats Perform any longer) was developed as a web app based on some of the features of TrackMaster Plus, plus a lot more, and was not based on anything else except a deep wish list created by horse racing fans and handicappers via focus groups. Race Lens was certainly not based on Mike Pizzolla's products, which are excellent by the way.

I got TM when it first came out. The video instructions came on a VHS tape.
That a long time ago.
