We simply cannot openly fight this fight. They aren't a NATO country. Even by NATO's charter they aren't eligible for membership.
NATO is a defensive alliance and by doing anything militarily we would be justifying Putin's excuse for all of this.
Next best thing we can do is nuke their economy and force the people and oligarchs to oust him.

If this drags on more than 30 total days, I don't see how Putin remains in power. Of course he is and has total power now. But with each mis step Russia takes, his own people are getting more and more fed up. Twenty years ago, it was almost unheard of to hear of ANY Russian outwardly speaking against the Kremlin. Today, you can see video from downtown Moscow with people openly questioning the leadership. Sure, Putin can have a crackdown, but this isn't the 70's or 80's.
Like it or not, the world wide web has changed the ball game.
As to Putin possibly using nukes..... highly doubtful! It would go against the "plan" to regain all of what he believes is rightfully mother Russia's. He, along with EVERY other member of the Kremlin understand that NO ONE WINS that outcome. I would go so far to say that his military doesn't fully support him. Just look at how its performing !

I think it's interesting to compare his National Security Meeting to that of the Reich propaganda.
Those in Nazi Germany were mostly true believers while anyone watching that shitshow last week could tell most of those advisors looked absolutely terrified at the kabuki theater they were being asked to perform.
Just how ironclad Putin's grip on power is though is something none of us know...

True, none of us truly know. Only thing we can gauge is things like you mentioned (advisors look), the performance of the military now, the actions of people speaking out in downtown Moscow, etc etc. All signs point to one side and it doesn't look great if your name is Vlad. But, to your point, never truly know until cards hit the table!

At 2500 dollars an ounce, Russia produces a third of the worlds palladium, a metal used in catalytic converters. They produced 2.6 million ounces last year or 6.5 billion dollars worth. It would be an easy end around to funnel it through China.

I was going by a PBS interview...
Did she talk about what she thought about Trump's personality traits as a POTUS and as a person during her Congressional testimony?
Even if she did, that would merely be an opinion, would it not?

Don’t know what opinions were expressed. I assume that they were based on personal experience. Are you suggesting she either lied or exaggerated about those experiences?
Maybe she’s a poor judge of character?

I'm not suggesting, but rather I explicitly wrote in a prior reply, that some of the characteristics she chose to highlight of Trump's that were "so dangerous," namely weighing decisions based on whether or not they might help or hurt his reelection chances, are certainly not unique to Trump. I am dead certain they are characteristics that mark many if not all politicians and certainly Presidents who are up for reelection.
The same goes for narcissistic traits and/or fragile egos. As if those never existed before in Presidential politics prior to Trump.

You decide.
From testimony in Congress to an interview with Lesley Stahl (60 Minutes):
Quote:
"What she said to Congress was that employees of the Ukrainian government were working with the DNC to get information on Manafort and candidate Trump. But that those same employees were not working for the interest or at the behest of the Ukrainian government at the time they took part. They were doing it on their own. That’s a little different than what she’s saying now."

Lesley Stahl: This whole issue of blaming Ukraine for meddling in the 2016 election that you spoke out against during the hearings. I mean, that really–- isn't it that really is spreading Russian disinformation, right?
Fiona Hill: This is very much a fictional narrative that has been propagated by the Russian intelligence services.

Star Impeachment Witness Lied About Her Contacts With Christopher Steele
Quote:
Bureaucratic wing-nuts never pay a price, and they play by a different set of rules. Fiona Hill is one of those people. You’ll probably remember her face from Trump’s first impeachment where she posed as one of the Democrats’ star witnesses. She was lauded as a consummate public servant with unimpeachable credibility. Most of the useless politicians in the GOP also treated her with kid gloves.
Meanwhile, in a shocking, completely unexpected development, it turns out that Hill lied about her contacts with Christopher Steele, author of the famed (and pure garbage) Trump Dossier.
