Thanks for posting this link. It was a nice trip down memory lane.
a couple things it might have mentioned: 1) the state legislature passed a resolution mandating a certain amount of racing days at the SPA, to stop the meet from shrinking, I believe this was in the 50s. 2)During the war, for a few years, they suspended racing at the SPA and raced downstate those summers, giving the excuse that it saved gasoline, which was just an excuse to make more money.
