Subject: Del Mar Fundraiser (yippee!); Zenyatta on E-Bay; And ... Our Horses
Dear Friends,
thanks so much to everyone that participated in our Hollywood Park fundraiser, by donating items for auction, by attending, by volunteering to help organize it, and (of course) by bidding! Hollywood Park was a terrific host, thanks to Rudy Alvarado for flying out on behalf of Caballo Press, and I think everyone had a great time. I did - your company was fantastic
Of possibly 30 silent auction items, all but two sold at or above reserve, yielding a net return after our costs of a little under $6000 - almost one month’s total expenses for the rescue which currently has 30 thoroughbreds in its care.
If anyone wants a “winners circle” photograph of the SCTR/Caballo Press group, taken after the 6th race on May 22 which was named for our group, they are now available from Benoit – and they are spectacular! There are two ways to order them:
1. stop by Benoit Photo at Hollywood Park. The price is $10.00 for an 8"x10" print with no sales tax.
2. contact Benoit directly via phone or email. This price is $11.03 (includes sales tax) for an 8"x10" print + a charge for postage. The total will probably be $14-$15 delivered.
Extra Exciting News is that on Saturday August 7th at Del Mar, we will also have a display of artwork and photography for sale to benefit SCTR’s rescued thoroughbreds. You can find our tables in the Clubhouse entrance hall, under the new mural. It is pretty much “Zenyatta day”, and if recent reports of her planned racing schedule are reasonably accurate, we may even have the pleasure of her company. So – again – if anyone out there feels able and willing to donate equine related items for fundraising on August 7th, please contact us!
sctbrescue@live.com Tax receipts will be issued for all donations of items for the fundraiser.
As you know, we have a current mini-fundraiser going on at e-bay, where we are auctioning some beautiful Zenyatta photographs and packages. Please join us for this virtual fundraiser at:

Finally, sadly we are unable to rescue horses this month, due to an incredibly slow adoption rate throughout this year, and a consequent lack of space and funds to support additional horses. I thought I’d give people a list of the current horses in the rescue, in case anyone would like to visit one or more of them, sponsor one, or (the greatest gift of all) adopt one. Photographs of all of them can be viewed at
