Bad examples are educational too

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...s-who-to-blame

quote: Thanks for reminding me,” Sweden’s state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell replied deadpan when the Observer asked in late March how he handled the knowledge that he would be to blame if Sweden’s decision to forego a lockdown were to go badly wrong.

“But seriously,” he continued, “I might look like a figurehead but agencies in Sweden are very much working as a whole. This isn’t something I decide alone in my office every morning.”

The message was clear. He didn’t think he would be held responsible if the light-touch Covid-19 regime associated with his name failed.

On Friday, as Sweden recorded 9,654 new cases and 100 deaths, the country’s prime minister, Stefan Löfven, suggested he might be right.

You guys really think this Sweden thing proves something, don't you?

Wow.

What it proves is that there is zero difference in locking down vs. not locking down.

At least in Sweden's case, their economy hasn't been royally ****ed the last 6-7 months, so they are still well ahead of the game.

Let them lockdown...it's not going to help much if at all. Just like everywhere else that has "locked down."

It would if done stringently. Voluntary self-policing quarantines are worthless. The latest spikes as example.

You started an entire thread based on the unbridled success of Sweden's "laissez faire" epidemiology. It is about time you shut up and officially shut that stupid thread down.

You and the other denizens of off topic were full of shit. Still are.

I posted my answer from Foreign Policy on the Epidemiologist: Why Lockdowns thread.

I will repeat .....

At least stay current.....
From foreignpolicy.com

The Inside Story of How Sweden Botched Its Coronavirus Response

https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/12/22...ovid-response/

...And the result has been deadly. While countries such as the United States, Brazil, and India have made headlines for recording the highest number of coronavirus-related fatalities, Sweden’s death rate of over 80 per 100,000 people is among Europe’s highest and is around 10 times as great as those of Norway and Finland, and over four times Denmark’s. COVID-19 hospitalizations are now rising faster there than in most European countries, and Sweden is caring for more patients in hospital now than it did at the height of its first wave. By Dec. 21, Sweden had surpassed the United States and all major European countries in its daily confirmed cases per million. Things have gotten so out of control in Sweden that neighboring Norway, for the first time since World War II, put troops on the border to prevent Swedes from crossing over.

Death/fear porn never works dude.

By your standards, Sweden should have been wiped off the map by now since they didn't lockdown in the spring.

Once again, you're:
