Going Wild, dead last, beaten 42 lengths. (No surprise at all.) Almost 130 lengths in four races. I'd be embarrassed if I owned that horse. Or trained it. But some have no shame, I guess.

Like I said, some Master Baiters on this board. "Who trained him....' LOL
A better question might be "Who owns this horse?" Why didn't they step up to the plate and demand their horse not be run? Maybe they are calling the shots, like most owners do....
When you know the definitive answer to the question of who is calling the shots over Going Wild, you let me know....
Last time I looked, the guys paying the bills tend to hold the most influence over the decision making.
I still think Going Wild deserved one more shot at a classic race. There were some legitimate questions surrounding his recent losses. You won't know, until you try. Now we know.

LUKAS
IT IS A JOKE THAT PEOPLE ARE DEFENDING LUKAS ! I have one question for DWL , What is more important, you getting on tv all day and week or the health of your horse ? I know what his answer would be but i also know what the truth is. It is very simple HE NEEDS the exposure in fear of losing big clients, also his ego is a HUGE factor. HE told us this horse was training GREAT all week.Yeah right. I am very happy this horse didnt get hurt. He should take a lesson from a TRUE horseman like 'shug ' . He could have easily run SURVIVALIST in the derby , but he said he didnt think the horse was good enough. I would take SURVIVALIST over GOING WILD any day of the week.

Usually I don't defend DWL,but after watching his interviews this week I do believe his hand was forced on running in this race.He (Going Wild) was nominated to a lesser stakes race on the card.I feel his owners pushed(DWL and GW) into the Preakness. They do pay the bills.I still feel if the TC did not destroy this horses confidence. We will see him end up as a very good sprinter, yes Sprinter.Maybe even B.C. sprint?
Time will tell.

Are you going to question Bob and Beverly as well, or are you going to lay it all at Wayne's feet? Why aren't the owners of these horses people love to bash Lukas with ever put to the fire? Does Lukas have a gun to these wealthy people's heads? Bob and Beverly HAVE taken horses from Lukas before (I think they gave some to Baffert as well as a few other trainers), so OBVIOUSLY, they CAN call the shots WHEN THEY WANT TO.
You've only got half the picture covered here frankfig, and it might be the WRONG half....

Really? See, I have a sneaking suspicion that the most ardent bashers of D. Wayne Lukas take a certain perverse glee when one of his horses gets hurt....sort of vindicates their vitriol, and gives them the "SEE, I told you so" attitude....
I'm not saying this is necessarily true in your case, but I do believe this happens. A dark side of human nature I suppose.

I have no idea who makes the call on where Going Wild gets entered, but consider that it may be Bob Lewis.
And if that's the case, I thought I recall him not being in the best of health & he may flat out enjoy the perks of having a horse in the TC races despite being non-competitive & very wealthy.
Could also be, he really doesn't understand when a horse has no shot.

LUKAS
I think it may have a lot to do with exposure.....stay in front of the cameras and you get more money from investors to but still more horses...to get in front of more cameras etc...I have never heard people mention this angle so maybe it is only me......LOL
You have to be a great promoter to get where he is at....
