What's YOUR biggest "Jinx" ?
Not throwing my losing tickets from the previous race into a trash can....
I also never crumple them. I toss them intact into a receptacle.
Betting at the same window where I placed a losing wager the race before.
While standing on line, Hearing someone call a bet or shout a tout a horse that I am not playing.....

I am convinced it is bad luck to be superstitious.

Yesterday I watched the movie "Masterson of Kansas."

James Griffith who plays Doc Holliday wanted to kill Bat Masterson over an old grudge,

While playing poker he gets on a winning streak, so he tells everyone around him that "it's bad luck to kill a man when I'm winning." That he'd get around to it when the streak ends.

When I buy the DRF on track it's the kiss of death because they always give you the one off the top. IF you want to win you have to dig one from deeper out of the stack. Not from the middle by any means, third or fourth one down works.

That's weird. I NEVER take the top newspaper/form, etc.
I have no idea why either.

When some one, knowing what I bet on, cries out that I've got it. As soon as the words are out of his mouth, no matter if my horse is five on top at the sixteenth pole, it will hit the wall and be passed in the last strides. If on a closer making a strong late move, it will come up right along side the leader and then hang like a cheap suit and not go by. Others have commented that this hex is almost universal.

You like a particular horse in a race you have your eye on and the local track handicapper releases him as his longshot selection of the day.

At that point in time, you may as well just go home.

I do not know if this guy is still there. But in 2008 when I went to Lone Star , my friend told me to be aware of "Beat Down Dave"...
This guy was the track handicapper who would offer his selections on the house PA just after the post parade. "Beat down" had two meanings. One, the money would go to this guy's picks and with the relatively small pools would result in shrinking odds. Plus the guy was a the kiss of death if he was on your mid to long shot. Every time Beat Down picked a horse that was above 4-1, it was like the trainer should have just scratched the horse because it had no chance
After a few races, I learned to NOT bet until this guy spewed his most valuable info.

1.) A $50 bill. Won't let a mutuel clerk give me one, or let my hands touch one. This also goes for bank tellers, retail clerks... anyone.

2.) To choose, and share my pick, here at PA, prior to post time. Could count on 5 fingers the times I've prevailed with a winner here. ...When keeping my picks to myself, I'm better off.

3.) Though I love them, I black cat crossing my path prior to or day of races.

Either of these.. I'll tank.

Schrupp also has a problem with the 50 dollar bill, why is that a jinx?

A friend of mine says $2 bills are bad luck. He's in the restaurant business and believes these bills in the register drawer are bad luck.
Never heard this about Fifty's.
I will handicap and share ideas, but never give out my final pick. if I do, or even if someone looks at my program and what I've written down, I may as well sit out the race.
One may ask why I write it down. Well, I have to. I usually am making multiple vertical bets, so I don't want to forget.
