I was going to keep my posts to "amateurs" but when I was watching the videos for the Led Zeppelin cover bands this one came up as a suggestion and I had not seen it before. Patty Smyth has one of my favorite female voices, maybe my third favorite after Ann Wilson and Amy Lee. I had a mad-ass crush on her after seeing the Goodbye to You video on MTV back in the day. It's too bad she went the pop route instead of doing rock songs. Take a listen and you'll see..er..hear what I mean.

Many people have covered this Ray Charles' classic. This one is a cover of John Mayer's cover. I like the arrangement on this one a lot.

If your looking for a different take on a song this one is pretty cool.

Norah Jones- Black Hole Sun. She was 15 years old when this song came out, being just a year younger than her I can say this song was amazingly popular with young people at the time. She might have imagined a thousand times what it would sound like her way.

Major bonus for the time and place. "Heaven sent hell away, noone sings like you anymore"

In 2002, The Funk Brothers, Motown's house band, got together 30 years after having played their last note to play their music and tell their story in the documentary, Standing In The Shadows of Motown.

The Funk Brothers produced more hits than The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys and Elvis. Combined.

Here, with Tom Scott and friends sitting in, they're fronted by the great Joan Osborne in a super cover of the Jimmy Ruffin classic, What Becomes of the Brokenhearted. The added coda is wonderful.

She has to be one of the most underrated artist that at least I know of. She has a voice so soft, yet propelling. Few are gifted with her style, not to mention her multi-instrumental ability.
I love her music.

Lots of good stuff in the thread. Keep 'em coming.

Larkin Poe has some interesting covers. I like this one a lot. Rebecca Lovell has a really good voice (one of my current faves), and the harmonies with her sister Megan are spot on.
