"Ice on the Board" Football -Vegas oddslines

I commented to my buddy yesterday before Purdue vs Ohio State Football. I said "Purdue is 21 point underdog and they are Ice on the board. (I am a Buckeye fan and follow College Football.). Also I dont bet on any other sport other than Horse Racing.

My point is, does anyone follow another sport and occassionally see suspicious point spreads etc ?

This is with my understanding that I am "more than amazed" at how well Vegas sets the spread and odds.

When Utah was favored over Oregon yesterday I was 99% sure they would win and cover.

Ducks caught the Bucks at the only time they could pull off something like that upset, before Big State's rookies were ready for the big time. That's nobody's fault but their own, but the early L gave Oregon that head-to-head argument as the Bucks got better, really better, and they got some undeserved love since then. It's a good thing a pretender from that conference won't be taking a shot at getting rolled in the final four.

I'd like to see lines greater than 30 listed as "no line" for all games. Florida was favored by 53 over Samford and struggled the entire game. Samford scored 52 pts. in the game though losing 70-52. LSU was a 29 pt. favorite over Louisiana-Monroe and struggled just to win the game.
Wagering games where the line is so lopsided seems careless to me when there are dozens of other good match-ups to bet on.

Why? It isn't like you couldn't have bet on Samford and Louisiana-Monroe.

I suppose in theory a person can bet on anything he wants to. My point is on paper it looks out of order.
Had Florida played a high school, what would the line be?

The bulk of the risk rests on the bookmaker...who puts up the line and dares the crowd to bet into it. The bettor can always choose to pass the game, if the point-spread seems troubling to him. If the bookies aren't complaining, then the bettors shouldn't complain either...IMO.

I have never met a bookie who wasn't always complaining about something. Always crying the blues.

The only bookie complaints that I’ve ever heard have been about slow-paying customers.

Saw this on ESPN this morning about a late-moving line on OSU/Other team; thought it could be informing.

Quote:
Money has been pouring in on Ohio State this week at sportsbooks around the nation, including in Michigan, but on Friday morning, the point spread moved toward underdog Michigan.

Caesars Sportsbook on Friday reported that 95% of the money bet on the point spread in Michigan was on Ohio State. The action was similarly lopsided at most sportsbooks entering the weekend.

Yet, around 9:30 a.m. ET, Friday, the line moved from Buckeyes -8 to -7 at Circa Sports, a Las Vegas-based sportsbook known to cater to professional bettors. By Friday night, the line had dropped around the nation, with Ohio State down to a consensus 7.5-point favorite.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Michigan wins outright; I don't want it to happen, obviously, but a little chaos all over the top ten here at the end could be fun.
