Yes I suspected, not "hoodwinked", but as I recall they presented green cards and " I-9s "(printed).

Company accountant accepted ID. This was around 1992. NYC, back then immigration was not such a big deal. Had a bunch of inner city Hispanics (Puerto Rican) working already. One of which brought the Mexican kids in to help out in assembly work.
