I just traded my 2020 Tundra 1794. Every available option.

I was just tired of the “truck ride” after 14 yrs.

I had 29k miles on it and I sold it to AutoNation in north Houston for $44,475. Lots of people just don’t want the new one

New car was $46,800. The guys at autonation told me they won’t even buy new Tundra’s. Everybody still wants the v8…..

RE: digital products sales tax

I work in sales/use tax. Many states are broadening the scope of what tax applies to. Many have started taxing digital products. Tax is generally based upon where the product is delivered. It's important to note even companies based outside of WA still have to tax orders within WA, IF they exceed certain thresholds known as economic nexus.

I imagine this company was not charging tax on items they should have been, and got slammed on an audit with a huge past due liability. States will look usually at 3 years of activity during an audit so the potential hit is huge. With the rules being different in every single state, companies have a hard time keeping up with constant changes, creating a huge administrative burden. Streamlined sales tax rules help, but not every state is apart of that.

I actually suspected the same thing. But no way to confirm because the company is privately held. I do know the company is headquartered in WA. (Imo 99.9% chance they have Nexus in WA.)

I do recall from prior experience as an accountant when businesses found themselves in a similar position, the state (specifically AZ in the 1980's and 1990's) was willing to work with the company if at all possible.

Viable companies were almost always able to work out an acceptable payment plan, negotiate, and in a lot of cases get the state to reduce the total amt owed.

The state would rather do that than force the company to go under or layoff half the workforce.

But again that was the AZ Dept of Revenue back in the 1980's and 1990's.

WOO HOO!

Too bad this doesn't translate into a higher approval rating.

I wonder why that is?
