Sounds like the Illinois quagmire, you need to cut race meets and not race days. The purses need to be bigger and the only way to make that happen is to run abbreviated meets and subsidize the pools with simulcast revenue

And that racetrack needs maintenance....which is why they can't race year around. When the meet approaches June the turf track is beat up. The track is already used 7 months out of the year since Hollywood Park went out of commission.

State needs 12 months of racing , SA cant do it ..
So that is why there's other meets

And being in NY , its perfectly fine with me here....and should be there too

Again, year round racing isn't a holy writ. Take some time off and let people ship north. Believe it or not, that's how it worked 60 years ago and back then they didn't even have Interstate 5.

Maybe they should go dark down south from February - June for a couple of years. Then all the horse people with nothing to do could get some broodmares and work on increasing the foal crop!
