(2) Do you really think that teachers will get behind this?
They are not the easiest professional group to negotiate with.
Reaching common ground on firearms training could present problems.
(3) Is it totally out of the question as a solution? No.
Other prevention measures look potentially more successful to me.
Perhaps a number of armed personnel at most schools is feasible.
I can't help thinking of putting out fire with gasoline.
That's probably just me, though.

I posted in another thread, in Colorado, a school is letting teachers carry concealed guns in class if they take a three day training course in gun safety and reacting to a mass shooter event. All volunteer and no one knows who they are.
See, things get done when you find ways to make it work instead ways it won't.
Now a school has as much protection as Rosie does!

Come on man...your argument is getting weaker by the minute.

Many American role models are based on the same theme of good guy with a gun solving melodramatic disputes violently with guns or settling justifiable revenge plots with guns. It goes back before the big screen and the charcters I mentioned, but the big screen of the 40's and 50's popularized these at times infantile contrivances into knee-jerk role models.
There have always been classical literary struggles of ""good" vs "evil", but the American 20th century take transformed the battle into all propagandists packing.
Now information is accelerated with the latest media devices. But the protagonists all packing melodrama is still with us in more powerful ways and young males emulate it. Some weaker than others get unbalanced and act out the violence. So John Wayne, Ronald Reagan shoot-em-ups and Dirty harry flics hare just examples of the American good guy with a gun or good guy achieving justifiable revenge is a main part of America's love of guns and gun culture

Now how about doing a graph with the USA and the rest of the western hemisphere instead of cherry picking Europe and tossing in Japan. I bet you would not like the results, now would you.

It makes no sense to compare the US to South American or central America countries. Western countries who are industrialized and economically similar is what is meaningful. Countries with drug cartels and more of an uneducated populations are not proper comparisons.
The world's developed countries, (which is why Japan is important), is much more appropriate and gives us a yardstick to use. Similar top the yardstick to use for universal health care.
BTW, Americans make up about 4.4 percent of the global population but own 42 percent of the world’s guns. From 1966 to 2012, 31 percent of the gunmen in mass shootings worldwide were American, according to a 2015 study by Adam Lankford, a professor at the University of Alabama. Adjusted for population, only Yemen has a higher rate of mass shootings among countries with more than 10 million people — a distinction Mr. Lankford urged to avoid outliers. Yemen has the world’s second-highest rate of gun ownership after the United States..

That's why we are free, brother.
No one is forcing you to not go back to the stifling confines of musty old Europe. Maybe you could steer your ark thataway.

That does not show what hcap wants to show - rank them by murder rate and US is not on top
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._homicide_rate
lib science at it's best -> cherrypick, omit, and adjust raw data....

Wrong, so wrong. You liberals keep saying how wonderful and successful people from these places are and you want to bring as many of them into the USA as possible. Also, since you liberals are so adamantly opposed to a merit immigration system and get upset when Trump wants more European's one can only deduce that these western hemisphere countries are far superior to white countries in Europe that a comparison is not only appropriate but essential.
Be honest hcap, you went ballistic when Trump said more people from Norway should be admitted, when your desire is more Haitian's and El Salvadoran's.

you pick and choose what you want to use -
if we have no borders, the illegal immigrants bring 'their culture here' and all of their 'problems' as well
there are many more illegal visitors coming from south of the border than Europe -
20% of El Salvadorans live in USA...
