Nothing new for the city of hate.

Quote:
The campaigns had gained momentum through demonstrations and marches, when race riots erupted on Chicago’s West Side in July 1966. During a march through an all-white neighborhood on 5 August, black demonstrators were met with racially fueled hostility. Bottles and bricks were thrown at them, and King was struck by a rock. Afterward he noted: ‘‘I have seen many demonstrations in the south but I have never seen anything so hostile and so hateful as I’ve seen here today’’
---Dr. Martin Luther King, 1966 after march in Cicero.

22 people shot in a 12 hour period. I wonder if Rahm Emanuel is looking forward to early retirement.

This thread is proof that such bans and anti-gun laws are completely ineffective.

But you and others will keep telling us how heartless we all are while people keep dying, even in cities where it's damn near impossible to carry a gun legally if you are an average citizen.

Maybe your sanctimony will keep people from dying next weekend in Chicago, because your championed gun laws certainly aren't keeping these people alive.
A Municipal Gun ban is merely inconsequential and wrong headed. A total ban on:

sales, offering for sale, manufacturing, importing, distributing, assembling, bartering, exchanging, having in possession for sale or any other means of distribution of handguns and some semi/automatic rifles was the only way to go.

THAT horse escaped the barn around the time Northern Dancer ran for the Triple Crown. And there were billions of baksheesh dollars from the armaments industry laid out to ensure that never happened. Now America is a constant nightmare scenario where someone will use a gun anyplace, in any scenario at anytime to "right a wrong", "avenge a slight", "establish street cred", " correct a political/religious/moral decision", etching., whatever.

Decades out if control.

Hey, good idea. No reason that wouldn't work. It worked with prohibition of alcohol, why wouldn't it work with guns?

Apparently he will be in the neighborhoods of those that pay his salary and prop up his position. I read recently that crime is down in most areas of the city and enforcement is up. The violence in the news is all in the areas with major gang problems, and I see no indication that they are doing anything, at least not successfully, about the gangs.

On a positive note, the military is sending medics to train in the emergency clinics in Chicago. The wounds are 'similar' to what they will experience in warfare.

And the victims are treated better. They won't end up in a VA hospital if they survive.
