Saban retires!!!!

The GOAT has hung it up. Congrats to him and his legacy! As much as an LSU fan has some animosity toward him, he really turned our program around and influenced so many kids and young coaches. On staff at LSU for the 2003 Natty. Head coach Nick with assistants Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, Jimbo Fisher, Derek Dooley , and others. Gonna drink a toast to his retirement!!!! Good luck Nick!!!

You would have never thought someone could come along at Alabama and do as well or better than Bear Bryant, but Saban did. Hard to believe they were 24 years apart and Saban was there 17 years, my how time flies.

Add in major conference realignments, and I hardly recognize the sport anymore. There are still a few elements remaining that can be entertaining, but it's a dwindling few.

Any chance Saban goes to the NFL?

Patriots opening is interesting, especially if they are going to stick with Mac Jones.

His resignation surprised me.

Saban coached Miami for two years, 2005-06. He left to take the Alabama job after the Tide fired Mike Shula.

Why? He is 72 years old with surely 10s of millions to live off of.

Retire and live out your golden years on boats, beaches, and golf courses.

Why anybody would want to work 80+ hour regular work weeks in their 70s when they are very well off makes zero sense to me.

COllege sports will never be the same....A team you follow through the year, gets in a bowl challenge, then several of the NFL prospects don't want to "risk" injury...BULL SHIT

Class act.

When I looked at some of their successful teams, they had stars at every position and stars at backup.

Saban and his team were excellent at recruiting talent.

I don't even think it is an argument, he is/was the greatest recruiting coach in college football history. They had the top overall rated recruiting classes in something like 9 of his first 10 years at Bama, and he never had a recruiting class rated outside the top 5.

The amount of players from Alabama selected in the 1st round of the NFL draft and gone on to play in the NFL is a staggering figure.

Now, his predecessor in Kirby Smith, is doing very much the same at Georgia.

Kirby has built the new 'Alabama' monster in the deep south with the Bulldogs who are now the toughest team in all the land to try and beat year in and year out.

The coaches that have been under Saban is also a long and distinguished legacy he leaves behind.

There is little doubt he will be remembered as the greatest coach in college football history for a very very long time.
