Extreme Favorites

I got an email from a Bob Olmsted on a new selection service. His selections are called Extreme Favorites. One of the requirements is that ML favorite must be 9/5 and then he handicaps the favorite before issuing it as a selection.

I'll give the results for the 8 days he has emailed his selections (thus far as a free trial):

# Bets: 15

Win: 12 (80%)
Place: 14 (93.3%)
Show: 15 (100%)

Win ROI: 31.7%
Place ROI: 26.7%
Show ROI: 13.7%

He also bets exactas but I don't so I haven't followed those results.

I just can't imagine that he can keep picking 80% wins in a larger sample.

Betting with Pinnacle 7% rebate would net 38.7% ROI.

For the forum response: Are these results any good?

Is that 15 wagers per day for 8 days 120 bets to win?

This guy advertises this nonsense in the back of the DRF. The add is directly to the left of someone named Greg "Boomer" Wrey. Who is said to be a "PROF HANDICAPPER/AUTHOR" (I love "prof handicapper" by the way! It's like the guy either had a hard time deciding if he wanted to claim to be a professional or profitable handicapper. Maybe he was just saving space to make his ad cheaper. I don't know.) I love the name of Greg Wrey's supposed book! He called it 'How To Turn Any Racetrack Into Your Own Personal Money Machine.'

The guy above Greg Wrey is even funnier. He calls himself "a crack Beyer anaylst" translated, I guess he has tried to study Beyer's ass crack. I don't know. Anyway, for just $40, he promises to ship you "the most revealing matterial ever written about Beyer Figures." The way it's worded, once again, I think it has something to do with the study of male ass crack.

Anyway---the vast majority of this stuff is BS in it's purest form. (Until any of these guys buy me a corned beef sandwich & a large Sprite--or pay for the ad space of my signature) I'm hear to tell you that this is nothing but sucker bait. (not that 99.999% of you didn't know that already.)

Drug; What hooked me was the 144 posts here, gave the benefit of doubt thinking he was actually looking for advice.

Thanks,

What are you guys talking about?

I'm not a huckster of any kind and what does the 144 posts prove. I have nothing to sell. I'm an 80 year old retired engineer who likes to play the horses and is always looking to simplify the handicapping experience.

My name is Salvatore Liggieri and not Bob Olmsted who I think is a long time handicapper if my memory serves me.

The results posted are actual, for example today's email had 2 selections:

AQU 9 race #4 (WA) 2.90 2.40 2.10
BM 6 race #10 (HM) 3.20 2.40 2.20

Once again, you are betting extreme favorites. Is that a problem?

I like your first name by the way---you would be even cooler in my book if you had it for a last name. Anyway....

The fact that the guy has connected with 12-of-15 heavily favored horses is mildly impressive I guess---but that does not prove anything. I don't really believe in "systems"...but you need a much bigger sample size than 15 races to judge any system.

I see the ad states that he gives you a free 10 day trial. My best advice would be to use someone else's information and get another screen name. That way, you'll be able to have another free 10 day trial I assume.

I'm personally skeptical of any gimmicks and systems. That's just my opinion though---if you want to spend money for it...its your call

Sligg, my mistake, I thought Drug was saying you were hawking for Bob Olmsted, sorry about that.

The 15 bets were for the 8 days so this is a spot play.

I was looking for some opinions as to the results I posted.

Another opinion if any.

How To Place Bets On Favorites For A Living by Mohammed Ali (I think he's from the UK). I clicked on a link from the PA website. You can pay by credit card so getting his guaranteed refund of $47 should not be a problem.

My advise to you is hang around here and you'll end up picking your own horses at no cost.

Either that or go to pacefigures.com and play the races with the CJ figures.

I think old CJ does a good job on the site and I dig his figures. However--I did notice he attempts to put out figures for Dubai races...which tells me he's been hanging around Jerry Brown's message board WAY too long. No one is perfect.

However, I won't give him my offical public endorsement until he buys me a corned beef sandwhich, or until he runs for Congress. Whichever comes first.

DrugSalvastore,

I wasn't aware Bob Olmsted had an ad-where did it appear?

I've been around this game too long to be impressed by small samples. Horse racing always reverts back to the mean. I will track this method until the trial ends.

He has not as yet posted what his service will cost.

Classifieds in the back of the Daily Racing Form.

I always comb that section over to see if Juddmonte is looking for a racing manager, who's in his mid-20's...with no GED and a terrible personality.

Olmstead is a good guy who has done some solid research on pace handicapping. He knows what to look for.
