Saratoga 2020: Suggestions?

Finally. Yes, finally. I have my besties convinced that Toga '20 is our destination this coming year.

After 12 years of the Breeders Cup, it is time to switch gears.

No, we don't expect Traver's weekend or any other great weekend. I think we just want to roam around and enjoy 'Toga on any normal day on any normal weekend.

Any tips on hotels remotely close to the track would be helpful.

Hyatt Place in Malta still at $199 for July dates, at least. We booked opening week/weekend.

7 or 8 miles to the track

Not sure of that we drove twice, next summer flying and renting a car. Your going to want wheels. We would stop by the Trackside Grill stand near the Nelson Ave entrance, have a breakfast sammich (recommend) then stop after the races for a beer while looking at the next day's entries (about the only venue where I buy an actual Form). We would then head downtown and do some bar hopping and grab a bite before heading back to our room. So many race trackers downtown.

Park a couple blocks away in someone's yard for under $10.

The rooms in Toga are $275 and more. I have a fantasy about the Turf and Spa Motel, but not going to pay up for it.

Used to stay here - race track bud knew the owner, but I'm pretty sure it's changed hands since 2016 when I last stayed there.

We'll pay to walk, and not drive.

$300 a night a room would be a gift. Especially when tickets aren't gonna be much.

Really depends on how much you're willing to spend, whether you prefer convenience to downtown vs the track, and if you have any flexibility to attend weekday vs. weekend.

I've stayed in a bunch of places in town including the Marriott Courtyard, Adirondack Inn, Hilton Garden, Community Court, Hilton downtown, etc. Stayed in the Courtyard last year. Pretty good hike to the track from there and not advisable with a cooler/chairs but a short rideshare from there and very convenient to downtown. Was something like $450/night for Whitney weekend (used credit card points). Pretty nice for a Courtyard- fairly new. They have a shuttle van but never asked about taking me to the track. There is a town-operated trolley that comes by and will take you to the track I believe

Adirondack Inn on completely other end of town, but still in Saratoga. They shuttle you to and from the track. Not convenient to downtown. Not the nicest place and the rooms are highly variable, but lots of outdoor space, decent pool, free coffee/breakfast. Lots to like about it and I will find myself back there.

I've never stayed in the Brentwood but it is across from the Main Track stable gate and know it has been recently renovated (has about 10 rooms). Also never stayed at the Casino but that is also very convenient to the track.
