Another sign of the times is that no one in the media seems to know what a switch is.

Did any of yall older guys ever experience the orange hot wheel tracks? I got the belt, switch, and whatever was handy, but the hot wheel tracks left some serious whelps. Different day and age like Marshall already said.

Don't know that one. If that is an actual reference to Hot Wheels cars, Hot Wheels was after my time as a kid. My parents never hit me in any way, but back in the day, lying was literally grounds for getting your mouth washed out with soap. A grand old Irish tradition.

With apparently nothing new in the Peterson case, how do the Vikings claim that not playing him last Sunday and playing him next Sunday are both the right thing to do?

Perhaps they realize without him they won't win.

Do the Vikings have to explain themselves? He's an employee. They can bench him or whatever him whenever they choose, no?

I'm pretty sure he's still getting paid.

They do when they are patting themselves on the back as holding the moral high ground and doing the right thing. Both then and now.

The explanation is that they are now in procession of more facts in the case. Be a cynic I see two reason for playing him . 1; the Vikings lost without him last weekend and 2; if they are going pay him, he might just as well play. He was only deactivated for the game last week which means he gets paid.

Soon after the Vikings announced that he would play this week against the Saints the Minnesota gov Mark Dayton weighs in:

"It is an awful situation," he said in a statement provided to The Associated Press. "Yes, Mr. Peterson is entitled to due process and should be 'innocent until proven guilty.' However, he is a public figure; and his actions, as described, are a public embarrassment to the Vikings organization and the state of Minnesota. Whipping a child to the extent of visible wounds, as has been alleged, should not be tolerated in our state. Therefore, I believe the team should suspend Mr. Peterson, until the accusations of child abuse have been resolved by the criminal justice system.

The Vikings care about winning.
Nothing else.

Ditto the rest of the NFL.
