I was not suggesting that Belgium's laws were an option, I'm sorry if you felt this.

I'm not sure which illnesses you're speaking of, but I promise you, there is help. There is guidance. There are--support groups--for family members of patients with Alzheimers, stroke, traumatic brain injury, diabetes, kidney disease, etc throughout each state. Maybe not in the most remote areas, no, but most areas, yes. .... Too, it is absolutely staggering how much a caregiver that is with these patients 24-7 comes to learn and carry out everyday. It takes a tremendous toll. Still, family caregivers become the voice of the infirmed family member and doctors rely on them greatly in treating the patient.

As you get older, you get less social. The circle of friends gets smaller and for the most part, you just want to be left alone. That's why your grandmother doesn't want to go to a home. There, she'd have to deal with more people.

that's entirely possible and accurate in terms of her as well.
