Think you have to either wait or shutdown and restart. That's what I've done in the past. If it happens routinely something else is going on.

Does the mouse freeze up? And does it make the boing sound when it unfreezes? If yes, this is a VERY common complaint with some versions of Windows. I had this issue and tried everything to clear up the freezing (wired) mouse and finally replaced the mouse to fix it even though the mouse never coughed in the past. It could be a loose connection on the USB port too or main pcb starting to go bad (yuck).

If no boing sound after it unfreezes, then you may have a corrupt file causing havoc in the kernel or registry. Run some AV apps and try a restore point to where it worked recently. The system is taking too long to run a DLL or driver that may be corrupted. As a matter of fact try AV apps and older restore points even it you do have the boing sound after it unfreezes.

Does it only happen on a certain site(s)? If yes, then try another browser and see what happens. Good luck.

Have you cleared the cache yet?
Can you try another browser and let us know if the symptoms change.
Have you run any AV apps yet?
Also, please run HijackThis (free download, just Google it)
Did you try to do a restore yet?

Any number of things can cause this issue and extensive items may be needed to resolve it.

I don't know much, but the "small hand" problem looks like an Adobe Acrobat issue. There are many computer literate members here, I hope that someone helps you soon.

I have an ancient desktop, running XP still. When this happens, I need to purge the cache and/or defrag. When all else fails, I reboot, and sometimes the system runs a "check disk" on its own at that time.

I also sometimes get "runtime error." That is solved by a reboot.
