a slot machine
i went into a casino to bet a game today and walked though the part that had the slot machines. i saw an old lady hit a jackpot in some kind of penny machine and her win was $600. as it turns out, there was some type of a promotional card in the slot in the machine that did not belong to the lady. she tried to get paid the jackpot and the supervisor told her it does not belong to her even though she put a $20 bill into the machine. it turns out the person before her forgot left the card in the machine and forgot about it and left to go home or where ever she went. the old lady never got paid and didn't even get her $20 back. i actually felt real bad for her and though about giving her $100 but i did give her the $20 out of my pocket that she threw into the machine.

I don't understand, I do not play slots. Was the card giving her free spins or a pay-off bonus? I thought cards just kept track of play for perks.

There is fine print in everything, you can make a safe bet the name on the slot play never got money as well.

The lady has options.....
In my opinion, the gaming commission in the jurisdiction you are in
would gladly investigate this situation for the woman.
If what you say is true, there is no way she won't get paid.
The casino has to have surveillance. If she was the player
who legitimately hit the jackpot. she should be paid.
This tracking could either be visual, or via the slots software.
With evidence from either one, or both, of these sources,
the true state of affairs will come to light. I hope she gets paid.
Players leave tracking cards in machines all the time.
That does not prevent the next player from winning.

this.
unless she's banned or self excluded or there was some malfunction of the machine. another player's card accidentally left in the machine is absurd grounds for non-payment.
orlando is ahead by 30 points, so at least looking good for lambo!

At some places the cards also hold the cash for when you cash out and go to the next machine. Sometimes when people bust, they forget their card.

The only machines I ever played were video poker to kill time between races I could not venture a guess when I last did that, maybe 15 years ago. They spit out the same vouchers self serve mutuel machines did.
