Today's classic "we're considering other options...like how the Del Mar surface is playing" response when invited to run in the Monmouth race is the most recent.

Last week, when asked if they had considered any out-of-town races should the Del Mar surface not be to their liking, their response: "Nope."
I guess that means if the surface sucks (it will), she'll go in the Pomona Invitational Handicap. That way all those critics that want to see her take on males on dirt are silenced.

By moving the Lady's Secret up to 7/24 from Haskell Day, 8/1, Monmouth has the opportunity to draw two bigs crowds on consecutive weekends.

I applaud Monmouth for moving this race forward a week and juicing up the purse as a showcase for Rachel and also for the fans who would rather come to the track to see Rachel without the 45,000 plus Haskell day fans who would be there with or without Rachel. Huge win for Monmouth, which this year has the money to do this. By making this move, Monmouth is looking to solidify it's chances to run an "Elite Summer Meet" next year and beyond.

If Jess was concerned about Zenyatta showing up in the G1 Ruffian a week later, then he made a smart move coming to Monmouth. Its not like team Zenyatta wasn't invited to this "Secret dance", if you will. Bob Kulina called them right away to invite them and they declined.

I hope Rachel romps in this race and then goes for the Personal Ensign near the end of the Saratoga meet. The question is....will Jess run her at 10 furlongs in the Personal Ensign?

Can a "how many race horses have you owned?" be far behind?

Team Yenyatta? Is she racing in Japan if Delmar's surface sucks (it will!)?

well, Yenyatta's team is out to set the bar very high I've been told. She will go where the best competition is in hopes of improving the visability of the sport. Where else would one of the most visible and promotable horses go?? Back to SA to race tomato cans?? The good of the sport is more important than win/loss records, Mr CJ.

The Breeders' Cup and whatever race they decide to run will be the main objective.

I do not expect either Rachel Alexandra or Zenyatta to face males again before the Breeders' Cup either this year.

I just noticed the mistake, and did it twice in consecutive emails!! Bad on me. Well, it is a Friday night of sorts, as I have a four day weekend.
