Another amazing de la Cruz accomplishment!
According to MLB.com:
Quote:
De La Cruz is the second player in the expansion era (since 1961) to steal three bases in a single plate appearance, joining Hall of Famer Rod Carew, who did it on May 18, 1969, for the Twins with Harmon Killebrew batting, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
From the replay I can't believe how a big league pitcher could be so nonchalant after seeing De La Cruz steal second and then third.

Of course De La Cruz recognized this, took off, and was almost to the plate before the pitcher (Peguero) even realized what was going on.

Really exciting stuff to watch.

.

With the game on the line that pitcher's actions were inexcusable. I could see

if the Brewers were getting crushed, but it was a one run game.

this guy is a good ballplayer.

a little bit of room for improvement, ... maturity.

see how he handles fame and whether he continues to work to develop mentally.

you make everything look easy. 'a natural'
but see if he develops that mental sharpness.

premature, but he reminds me of Ty Cobb.

this is a different era, obviously.

Ty Cobb also really worked to be a master with the bat, and could bunt, or slap against the shift and use his speed.

and killer instinct.

this guy De La Cruz is already a step ahead of the defense with his base running.

Reds got their asses kicked and swept by the Brewers (their chief rival in the division) over the last 4 games.

If the season comes down to a few wins in the division, this last series will haunt them

While the Brewers and Reds are battling for the lead, here come the Cubs on the outside, moving fastest of all. 34 runs the past two days. The only team in the NL Central with a positive run differential.

13-3 over their last 16 games and 15 of their next 18 games are against teams with losing records. Very losing records.

And they just won two of three from the best team in the National League, the Atlanta Braves.

Since the All Star break, the Cubs are
First in Runs by 34
First in hits.
Second in doubles to the Oriole 51-54
Second in home runs to the Braves 43-39
First in Stolen bases

The Cubs batting average, on base percentage and OPS lead the majors and their slugging percentage trails only the braves.

Reds are 9-14 since this thread started. Weird how teams go hot and cold at the drop of a hat.
I would be curious how regular season records compare to play-off success in baseball compared to other sports.

Been watching the Reds for a week or so after buying the MLB season (what’s left of it) for 39 bucks.

These guys have brought me back to baseball. So much fun to watch these young guys

These team has fallen apart.

Total bullpen collapse.

You cannot be behind 90% of the time trying to comeback in every game

Fraley-Votto on the DL again. Dela Cruz hitting slump.

They are still in wild card hunt…..how I have no idea

Ouch!
