scratch question
NYRA website shows several scratches in the 9th race today with the reason being listed as "stake".Just wondering what that really means.

My info shows that several were scratched as "trainer-main turf only"

Most jurisdictions will let you scratch out of a stakes race without question.

In a race where you put up money to run (a stakes) you have the option to scratch with "no reason" up to 45 minutes before post time.
