Hovdey, King resurface at Bloodhorse
I noticed Jay Hovdey and Byron King are now writing for Bloodhorse. Glad to see they both landed new gigs after getting dumped by DRF.

The organization that dumped Jeremy Balan for reporting on the breakdowns?

That appears to have been a false rumor. There was a series of tweets where readers were going after Balan for letting them think that even though it wasn’t true (can’t remember exactly, but I think Balan quit for starters).

I can't find them, but I'll accept you saw it, no doubt. I'd still say he is gone because of the deaths and how he reported them. Maybe conditions were placed on him staying that he found unacceptable? He didn't want to leave, I know that.

I spoke with Jeremy on the phone a few weeks after he left.
Imo, what CJ posted is right.

Although I find Hovdey's work just a tad elitist, the man is an incredibly adept and talented writer.
Incidentally, I've long believed that superior writing skills played a somewhat unsung role in boosting both Beyer and Crist to such prominence. With Crist, of course, being the more recognized for writing.

Any chance that we might see your OWN written work for sale somewhere in the not-too-distant future, Mountainman? I certainly would be an enthusiastic buyer.

Hovdey was one of my favorite writers going back a couple decades. The move should be good as I read him far less often with him behind the paywall, or with the difficulty navigating the DRF site.
I wish he and others would put their talents into some real investigative reporting though. That’s one of the reasons the sport is failing, no press holding anyone accountable.

Hi, Gus. Hope all is great in your world. Occasionally get time to glance over your current posts. Always unique and illuminating. Have long maintained you're the soul of this forum.
Slow progress on a novel I'm co-writing with my son, Shane. Negligent to have not posted a single blog (yet) this season. Will whip one out soon. The persistent voices in my head want more outlet than the show can provide.
