Risk factors for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes
Researchers don't fully understand why some people develop prediabetes and type 2 diabetes and others don't. It's clear that certain factors increase the risk, however, including:
Weight. The more fatty tissue you have, the more resistant your cells become to insulin.
Inactivity. The less active you are, the greater your risk. Physical activity helps you control your weight, uses up glucose as energy and makes your cells more sensitive to insulin.
Heart disease? https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-...s/syc-20353118
Smoking. Nicotine constricts your blood vessels, and carbon monoxide can damage their inner lining, making them more susceptible to atherosclerosis. Heart attacks are more common in smokers than in nonsmokers.
Poor diet. A diet that's high in fat, salt, sugar and cholesterol can contribute to the development of heart disease.
Obesity. Excess weight typically worsens other risk factors.
Physical inactivity. Lack of exercise also is associated with many forms of heart disease and some of its other risk factors, as well.
Cancer? Smoking, diet and inactivity are some causes. Many cases can be avoided by lifestyle choices

I know all of this. Many of us do but when the body breaks and gets sick more than pumping iron is needed. Like a doctor.
I cycled cross country 50 years ago and maintained great health until 10 years ago, your age.
Don't be so fast to count your chickens
In your first sentence you sad
"brought on"
All these built-in genetic conditions precede environmental factors, one can do or not do to trigger the potential for the individuals genetics to CAUSE the condition.
BTW, both parents and relatives poor family histories may pass on diabetes, heart disease, cancer and kidney disease stacking the deck against the patient, certainly not according to their choice.
Many covid patients are stuck with bad hands like that. Comorbidities often come as a group. One can not "diet and work out" a bad hand like that
Children can get lots of horrible affections, without making "poor lifestyle choices", being responsive for their own illness

No, the mystery you are incapable of understanding is an age old scientific topic and debate.
The Debate
https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is...urture-2795392
The nature versus nurture debate is one of the oldest issues in psychology. The debate centers on the relative contributions of genetic inheritance and environmental factors to human development. ... Genetic traits handed down from parents influence the individual differences that make each person unique.
Are you familiar with this or are you stuck on an endless cycle of Trump mindlessness?
Maybe you can "bear up" the nature part, since it is contrary tom your ignorant
opinions?
What is a mystery is you being so close minded.

You have my permission to over eat, smoke, and be a couch potato. See how that works for you
That's my whole point. If people took care of themselves these diseases would diminish in #s greatly. If you disagree, you're in conflict with "science"

Here's one of the covid deaths. Lon Adams, the man who developed the recipe for Slim Jim beef jerky (never tried it) dies tragically of covid
He was 95
Taken in the prime of his life. He had 30 good years ahead of him if it weren't for this plague!!
The covid #s are a joke.

Yeah, I’ll bet his children and grandchildren are like:
He lived long enough. F*** him.

Was he a wealthy man? If so, you might want to rethink.
Kids can be cruel...and greedy.

I had a line, “let’s go spend our inheritance.”
Took it out. Thought it was overkill.
Great minds think alike.

You insult people constantly and insult the English language everytime you post.
What’s wrong....can’t handle it in return?

The problem is this is a virus where many people have it and are asymptomatic. That means they show no symptoms in case you didn’t know.
So people could be walking around thinking they are healthy and infecting people. What is your plan for them?
