What time will I have to get to S-Toga saturday to get a picnic bench?
Last year i made the trek to Saratoga for the Woodward. I got there when the gates opened and i literally got the VERY LAST picnic table. It was a great day to see Rachel. What time do you think Id have to get there on Travers Day to 100% lockup a table? Are there long lines even before the gates open on Travers Day?
Thx

If the weather is good, I would say it would be a safe bet to get there at the same time and no later....

tables are tough to get
table grabbers are let in at 7am there is a line of 75 or more people
they get there at 5 am or so to form the line.If u don't do it this way
you have no chance on travers day unless you are real lucky
good luck

Looked on NYRA.com for the info.. Pretty sure there are 50-100 Picnic Tables
they put up in a lottery drawing for Travers Day..
Your Best bet is bring a few "Chairs in a bag",
& trek up past the "Giveaway Tent" at the top of the Stretch.
Jumbotron, SAM machines, Snack Bar & restrooms all located in
a great spot to watch the races as they turn for home!

A number of tables are reserved Saturday. I believe the target was 100. The monies for these tables is going entirely to charity. It looks like it's going to be a nice day, so the place should be packed

i dont want to be a party pooper, but unless you are really REALLY a "crowd" person, the travers day is one day to watch it from the comfort of your living room.
the old place just wasn't built for the crowds they draw on a nice weather travers day and everything gets stretched to the limit including patience.
if you're into the "woodstock" type crowd....enjoy.....but as much as i LOVE saratoga, travers day is no show for me.

After 5 Breeder's Cups I completely agree....Unless you have a seat, it sucks.

I used to go most years in the 1990s. I think the facility can handle the crowd, but getting in and out of the parking lots was the biggest drawback. If you leave right after the Travers, you should be OK.

A friend living in Troy sends his wife and daughter on Travers Day at 5AM. They park on East Ave and wait for the running of the bulls to get a couple of tables in the paddock area around the Big Red Springs. She secures the tables and then goes home and he shows up around 11 with the rest of the family.
I have no idea excatly HOW they are handling this lottery. Some people may want a paddock table and get a backyard table. Does that mean they have to pick up their table and transport it to the desired location? And don't laugh I have seen people grab tables and move them that far in order to sit where they want.
