Turf Paradise...the Mecca of horse racing!
It's very easy to criticize Turf Paradise...and I have done plenty of that myself here in the past. But I must now say that this track has become my favorite betting destination...due to their great field sizes. As I type this, Turf Paradise is offering the rarest of all racetrack commodities...a 12-horse claiming race that isn't for lowly maidens!
I don't know the reason for the big fields currently at Turf Paradise...and I don't much care to find out what this reason is. I am enjoying the racing there immensely...and I applaud them wildly for this new development. If only, in the future, they could also do something about that 20% win takeout...then I would be doubly ecstatic.

You want to tell your wife you are taking your stable to Parx for the winter, or to Turf Paradise?

Turfway Park ran 32 races last week. Off the top of my head I remember four eight horse fields, four nine horse fields, and twenty four races with ten or more runners.

Horsemen, owners and bettors like the new Tapeta synthetic surface....
Good for the horses in cold weather as well.

Doesnt the starter bonus plump up field size with those who throw their d-tier talent to the wolves just to get a cheap check?

Marginal handicapping advice but pretty good race calls on offer at Turf Paradise these days. Some English guy, kinda sounds more American these days. He might be out for a couple of days when Queen Liz pops her clogs.

Horsemen and owners certainly but would have to think the jury is still out on the bettors, at least the more serious players. Some of the results have been hard to figure.

I play from time to time at Turf. I think because when I started to learn how to cap an old timer at the OTB told me "Turf Paradise is wear they send the nags kid, ones that could make it at Santa and the Gate" Anyways I love Turway but I dont think there is a tougher track to handicap. I cashed nothing the last coulple of years there (of any significance). It is very tough. I think Turfaway hands down beats The Spa as the graveyards of favorites.

I've always lost money at the Spa and at Turfway...but I hesitate to call these two tracks "the graveyards of favorites". Because I've never considered myself as a "favorite".

Isn't that the same game plan Del Mar and Santa Anita use to increase field size?

I don’t think I have ever cashed more than a few tickets at the Spa. Just not my track.
I used to love the old Turfway. Before it went poly or whatever the hell it is now. Especially when it went muddy or sloppy
I remember them running late cards and I would stay at my office after everybody went home. It was quiet as ever and I could concentrate on nothing else.
If I saw rain headed toward the track I would hit the front runners hard. Loved it. Toward the end everybody was in on the bias after rain though. It was good while it lasted.
