I'm back home after my annual weekend up at Saratoga. There's nothing like playing the races with a group of like minded fans...it didn't help my handicapping at all, but it sure made for a better atmosphere!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by...all the old familiar faces and all the new ones as well...I know I'm going to leave one or more off the list, but it was great to see/meet (in no particular order):
Track Collector

I wanted to thank Mike for his perfect offer of the shirts. They looked terrific and a couple of women tried to buy it off my back... (I would just add, with Canada as the Manu's brand name, you made the perfect choice!)
I really enjoyed meeting Track Collector & Red Knave, who were both gracious and kind. As it turns out Red Knave lives close to me and in an area I know very well.
And that Zaf guy gets around! Yesterday, at the Spa, last week schmoozing for pics with E. R. Da Silva at Woodbine! Nice life.
I've seen Grits daily and exchanged a few bon mots with her, including the choice of words of Southern belles v.s. male handicappers from N.Y.
The Rookies boys will spend their final day at The Spa, as usual, out in the noon day sun. This is the first year we've gone Thursday-Monday and with travel- a week total. As usual, we have had a fabulous time.
There's a short question we ask ourselves when we arrive here every year.
Q: What's wrong with this picture?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

In scanning PA's list of people that attended. Right off I seen that about 7 names that attended in the first 3 years that I was there. Great to see that so many still attend. Living in California it is hard to justify the cost. I always enjoy reading the comments every year.

Sadly back at work. The trip home yesterday was a nightmarish 6 1/2 hours, so I guess it was good I left when I did. My last two picks stunk anyway....It was a lot of fun to see old friends again and meet a few new ones. Those that couldn't come this year, cj's dad, JustRalph, BillW, offtrack, and John, just to name a few, you were missed. As was the presence of Rich Bauer who will be with us every year in spirit for as long as we gather.
I'll be back up friday for much of the conclusion of the meet so if anyone pops in, let me know.

SEE! I KNEW IT! I knew I was going to forget someone...my teammate from the PAILH contest no less (our other teammate, nijinski, was missed as well as she was originally planning to come up this weekend but couldn't make it).
How could I leave off the list the man who's been to most if not every Saratoga gathering to date?
I hang my head in shame...
ps. you're on the list now...it's good to be king...

PA,
So sorry that my son and I couldn't be there on the weekend to meet you (as well as all the others who arrived on Saturday and Sunday)! But we made it to Scranton on Friday, and then got him settled for the coming year down in DC on Saturday before driving back to Alabama yesterday, arriving at midnight. (I'm glad I don't have to go in to work until Wednesday!)
It was great getting to see everyone who was there Wednesday through Friday! I hope I'll have an opportunity to attend future renewals.

Tim: Nice to meet you and your son and share a table for the day. Good luck to him with his fellowship in DC.

Wayne: Enjoyed meeting you even if that 42-1 turf breeding play ran up the track! Good luck if you get to that Casino in Syracuse before you get back to Alabama. See you again.

Came up for the day on Saturday to perfect weather -- thanks to PA for the excellent shirts and lunch, and Al for arranging the tables.
Another shout out to Al for bailing me out with the Arlington Million. Used his key horse, Afsare with the winner (huge early speed edge on this field) and almost everybody else for third to nail exactas and both tris. That made for a nice ride home that night after the parade of chalk and near chalk at the Sar card (I missed the first race) where my exactas kept running 1-3.
No one knows the Euros like Al.

In all seriousness, hope everyone had a great time yesterday.

You get older, you need larger print. What can I say?
