I stopped updating this thread because there was just such a volume of crimes committed by illegals, I couldn’t keep up.

Biden has stopped deporting illegals and has basically ordered that “all” being held (including the criminals) be released.

This is going to get bad....../

my knowledge of the immigrant history of the U.S. could use some help. is this immigrant crisis of law breaking unique to this moment in U.S, history, or was this the pattern in previous immigrant waves of our ancestors ?

There is a huge difference in Ellis Island immigrants and what’s happened in the last 30 years.

yeah, i guess my memory of my grandparents on both sides is typical of the immigrants in the 20's. they had to pass a citizenship test and, if the government processor thought their name should be changed, it was what was called "anglosized. they also had to speak english, at least to some sort of understandable degree. my grandfather on my father's side was the least understandable of all all my grandparents, with his heavy calabrese accent, but i could carry on a conversation with him, no problem.
it begs the question, what is the logic having virtually no standards nowadays for the immigrants entering the country? i mean, what good could come of it, or are our leaders simply self-destructive, and have no alliegance to the values of our country. some of them served in military, risking there life to defend this country, and their kids have to live with the mess they made, just doesn't make any sense.

Both my mother and father came through Ellis Island. No ID’s needed.

The main difference is when Ellis Island was the standard the quantities were significantly much lower. At work a few of us were kicking around this same exact subject, resulting in someone looking into a then and now in overall numbers with all of us surprised in overall increase of legal immigration today leading into illegal immigration numbers.

My Grandparents were not allowed access because they did not have the right paperwork. They had to go to Canada. It took 3 years to get the right paperwork to get in to the USA.

Sure. My mom’s family came from Galicia (Ukraine). My dad from Poland.
