I agree. We really don't know, and honestly it seems insane if that was THE reason.

What was the "offending" tweet about, anyway? Was it written in a vulgar manner?

He was talking about his brother, and about this one time his brother "caught" Vic, ahem, well, you know, adolescent moments that we've all have had...

Parx better start writing up another track announcer job posting. I think Jess would be a great Vic replacement at Oaklawn.

lol... Just caught Bob Costas chatting it up with Bill Maher. Bob said there are no misdemeanors on twitter, only felonies. i saw the tweet in question. seemed innocuous to me.

Same here. But we really don't know if that's what caused them to part ways.

Good thoughts to a valued friend and super-knowledgeable guy. Our sport would be diminished by his absence.

The man's resume is unmatched.

I’m going to guess there’s more to the story. He probably shouldn’t have shared that story given he’s a public figure, but I can’t imagine there’s a mature adult anywhere that would be offended by it. I guess these days maybe anything is possible. When things calm down maybe Vic will have something to say. It’s unfortunate. I hope he continues to post. He contributes some good insights.

Are the owners of Oaklawn Park religious?

I believe they are adherents of the group that has an understanding of progressive sanctification which involves going from being a racetrack with a casino towards becoming a casino with a racetrack in this life, with total realization of their eternal being coming when they are purely casino.

My memory might be wrong, but i think Vic shared that he had worked at 34 racetracks. It won't be long before he'll be announcing somewhere, assuming he wants to continue.

The "offensive" Twitter post seems like a whale-sized red herring...
